Day Trip to the Country!

A few of the pictures from my daytrip nearly three weeks ago! This location is about 25Km west of Hanoi next to a village. The village is surrounded with small lime stone hills.

Halong Bay

A beautiful bay in the gulf of Tonkin filled with 3000 lime stone islands, some quite large, some no smaller than scrub capped verticle pillars shooting up out of the surf. For me this was the Jewell of Vietnam.

Sapa

Sapa used to be a hill station established by the French, now it is a tourist spot for Vietnamese and foreigners alike. Vietnamese come for the cool weather, foreigners come to see the scenery and the Montagnards.

Lao Cai

Actually did some riding through Lai Chau as well as Lao Cai, but moslty in Lao Cai. We were so busy riding all day long we didn't get much chance to interact with local Vietnamese at many of the villages we rode through. The beauty of the scenery more than made up for it though. I think I was in one of the most beautiful places on earth on day two.
