Hope FloatsWe visited another floating fishing village. Only this one was farther removed from Cat Ba and was very poor. The floating huts were mostly shacks... not many could be considered cottages. These people have to go fishing out in the gulf to make their money... and they don't do so well as the fish farmers near Cat Ba. I believe this may have been the same village featured in a recent Reader's Digenst story entitled 'Hope Floats' about an American Vietnam vet who helped three girls that had been abandoned by their father. If not this village was very similar to the one featured in the story. The largest buildings in the whole village
