Lao Cai & Lai Chau Adventure (Sapa2)

This adventure was very different from my first adventure. It began in the hill station town of Sapa, but we only stayed there long enough to pick up our American made mountain bikes and head up to Heaven's Gate, the highest road pass in all of Vietnam. Heaven's gate goes over a saddle near Fancipan, the highest mountain peak in all of Indochina! That is where our adventure began, but it wasn't all down hill from there.

Lao Cai Day One

The first day we started at Heaven's Gate, the highest road pass in all of Vietnam. The elevation was around 8,000 ft, and we had about a 25 Km ride downhill through the mist. It was windy and damp - almost the perfect setting for an epic adventure!

Did I mention there were misty mountains?

Lao Cai Day Two
(Day three wasn't worth mentioning)

The second day we ascended to another road pass early in the morning. The pass was not as high, but much more beautiful than Heaven's Gate! There was rain, not fog, otherwise this day would have had the PERFECT setting for an epic adventure.
